Light Therapy

Light healing is general term used to describe any number of therapies that use light to promote healing.

These range from the use of ‘Light Boxes’ to combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) to more esoteric treatments involving colour, crystals and nutrition.

They all, however, work on the same basic principles.  Light, whether natural or artificial, affects the amount of hormones secreted by our pineal, hypothalamus and pituitary glands.  The closer the light our bodies receive is to sunlight, the better.  Sunlight also provide vitamin ‘D’, an essential body nutrient, which is absorbed through the skin.

Whatever the method used, light therapy has been shown to be effective in both conventional and alternative medicine treatments.
