UFFINGTON WHITE HORSE:

(Atlas of Mysterious Places – Marshall Editions Ltd - 1987)

The huge stylized drawing of the White Horse near Uffington village in Oxfordshire is a complete mystery. Best seen from a distance or from the air, the figure is 111m (365ft) from head to tail. It was probably carved by the Iron Age Celts around 100 BC - the horse was highly venerated in Celtic times as the goddess Epona.
